D’Ska Assassins gigged at Qudos, Salisbury, on Friday, 6 Sep 19. George Francis, D’Ska’s original drummer, kindly depped for us and we also played without our saxophonist, Stephen Waring, who was on holiday in Spain – though he did text us a cryptic message: ‘Hola, bueno. El Ska es el danse musica: unos, dos, tres, quatros!’. Due to the number of events on in town that night, we played to a slightly smaller than usual crowd, though things still hotted up nicely. It was pointed out to me that by wearing my jacket over my D’Ska Assassins t-shirt the only text visible was ‘D’S Ass’: I took my jacket off after that – not that you lovely people would think that ‘D’S’ stood for David Skaa or anything. It was great to see Pete Farrow and his wife, Julie, in the audience. As a further bonus, Pete took some fantastic pics of the band using his Huawei P30 Pro (attached). Huawei make nice ‘phones – trouble is, I’ve had that Xi Jinping pestering me ever since to get D’Ska Assassins to “Do job” for him in Hong Kong…. I told him to mind his own business – or as we Chinese speakers say ‘Nhin doing, ah Jin’: tuh tah!’. I’ve reported him to the relevant Police authorities (Huawei Five-O). [That”s enough jokes – Ed.]
